Bald Eagles are majestic birds. They are fierce, and deadly hunters and stand for freedom and power. I love seeing eagles in the wild and seeing their natural beauty. I was looking through my Alaska cruise photos from August 2017 and they inspired me to paint a portrait of an eagle because I had taken so many photos of them during that trip. It just felt right.
Eagles and symbolism
We all know the Bald eagle is the Symbol the U.S.A uses because it represents freedom. But other nations have also used eagles as a symbol, such as Babylon, Egypt, and Rome.
"Even in early Christianity, the eagle was seen as a symbol of hope and strength, representing salvation. In Islam, the eagle represents warlike ferocity, nobility and dominion. And the Native Indians saw the Eagle as a symbol for great strength, leadership and vision.
But the eagle is also seen as a spiritual being and more spiritual beliefs say that the eagle is the chief over all the winged creatures. The eagle conveys the powers and messages of the spirit; it is man's connection to the divine because it flies higher than any other bird. The eagle brings the message of renewed life because it is associated with the east winds - the direction of spring, dawn and rebirth.
It is believed that ff a person has been going through a hard time, the eagle not only signals a new beginning, but provides that person with the stamina and resilience to endure the difficulties. SoI= if an eagle has appeared, it bestows freedom and courage to look ahead. The eagle is symbolic of the importance of honesty and truthful principles. " More Animal Symbolism
I find all of this very interesting and even if you don't believe in the spiritual aspects of eagles, they are still amazing birds to look at.
