I finished my classes for the November term and couldn't wait to get another painting done. I was so excited about painting that I forgot to take my progression photos. I had finished the sky and water and was working on the mountains when I realized it. ooops
I wanted to try something more detailed, so I did a mountain and lake scene with lots of trees. Its not my best, but I still like it.
I got all of the basic colors in, and I added red to the land early because I felt it would add to the depth of those areas.
The snow on the mountain wasn't the greatest, I didn't have the angles and flow correct.
Still building on that ice and snow on the mountains. I used blues, grey and white
After I finished with the mountains, I moved on to the surrounding land areas. This was a new area for me. Ive never had to do brush and trees, so I guessed and kept painting till it felt right.
I wanted the water to have an icey look but not exactly frozen. Just cold. I think I did a good job on the water, however I do not like the shore line in the back...seems too jagged and it looks off. But this is a learning adventure for me, and with every painting I am learning something new. I feel I am getting better each time and learning how to criticize my own work so I can do something different next time...or this time, depending on where I am in the painting. Im trying new techniques, thinking out of the box and improvising. I hope you are enjoying the journey as much as me.
